Diagnosis
It al began last year when Andrei accused his first headaches. I wasn’t alarmed because they weren’t periodic, more exactly, they were neither constant nor intense. My little boy was linking them with his homework and I thought they were just excuses made up by him so that I would let him play or do something else…
Several months ago, he began having leg and back pains. I thought that they were caused by is rapid growing rythm (at 8 years old his height is 4 foot 7)
At the beginning of this year, I saw him limping so I decided to take him to our family doctor who sent us to the orthopedist. It is PAINFUL to see how durring a medical exam, when my child was asked to take a few steps by himself, he fell down and, at the same time, my world fell apart. From the orthopedic departament we were sent as an emergency case to neurology, where, after a MRI, he was diagnosed with „Tumoral mass on the 4th ventricle (medulloblastoma) with secondary cerebral and vertebral leptomeningeal determinations.”. In smaller words, Andrei has a number of tumors on his brain and spinal cord, which, at this point, it only makes it impossible for him to walk. Still, his physical condition is worsening day by day.
All this was happening on the 20th oh January. The neurologist recommended an emergency surgery for the following Monday, but he warned us that there were great chances that he will never be able to walk again, which was, ironically, the best case scenario.
I couldn’t accept the fact that there was a big possibility that I would loose my son, so I decided to fight in order to make it possible for Andrei to have the surgery in a foreign country.
I know there is a huge amount of cases in which kids endure pain from overwhelming diseases and conditions like this. All of them need support from people like you. We could all help giving them a chance for a brighter and healthier future.
This is the reality of Romania and the tragedy of the medical institutions in this country.
They do not give enough hope for diseased children. My little boy’s case is very severe and of very urgent matters. We cannot speak of him as in within a year or a couple of months, the time right now is purely an expense.
I am asking for your help in raising the money for his expensive surgery and treatment.
